- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to issue a sole source follow-on modification to FN Herstal S.A., to procure additional quantities of: (a) GAU-21.50 Caliber Machine Gun System. NAVAIR intends to procure the increased quantity under the existing IDIQ N00019-14-D-0021 and the resultant modification will be Firm Fixed Price. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to award with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within thirty days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. FN Herstal is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of GAU-21, and as such, is the only known source available with the requisite technical knowledge, experience, and tooling to produce the requirements described herein to satisfy the Government's requirement. The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) code for the supplies anticipated needed herein is 332994.
