Description
The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers requires the transportation, dry-dock, inspection, and repair of barge #719. Work will consist of the following: The contractor shall transport barge #719 from a location (to be determined by the Government) between UMRM 734 Lacrosse WI & 698 Fountain City WI. Upon completion of work, the Government may exercise the option for return of the barge to a location to be determined by the Government between UMRM 698 & 734. The Contractor shall raise the barge on dry dock and clean the hull exterior (main deck down). After cleaning, the Contractor shall visually inspect the hull plating, document in writing any problem areas. Hull condition shall be surveyed by ultrasonic testing on a 2' grid pattern, which shall also be documented in writing with the written report of findings provided to the CO. The Contractor's report shall include recommended actions to address any problem areas identified during the visual inspection and ultrasonic testing. The Government shall make the final decision for any hull plate patching based on the inspection and testing. Upon completion of repair work the contractor shall paint the outside of the hull to include all new steel hull plate. This procurement includes the following options: 1. Option to return the barge to a location to be determined by the Government between UMRM 698 & 734. 2. Tank removal. Remove old tanks and piping from the interior of the hull. 3. Replace manhole covers with similar manhole covers. It is anticipated that work shall be begin as soon as possible after contract award, but must be completed no later than October 31, 2018. The solicitation will be a Request for Quotes (RFQ) This synopsis is not a request for quotes, proposals or bids. This is a notice that a solicitation for a competitive acquisition for the award of one firm-fixed price contract is intended to be issued via FedBizOpps (www.fbo.gov) in the near future. The specifications will be detailed in the solicitation. This announcement is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, implied or otherwise, to issue a solicitation or award a contract. The solicitation due date is an estimate, stated for planning purposes only. The definitive quote due date and time will be stated in the solicitation and any associated amendments that may be issued. No CD's or hard copies of this notice or the solicitation will be available. Offerors are responsible for checking the fbo.gov website for any update(s) to the Notice.
