Description
The Strip Stock Rubber Material is used in injecting molding presses to rubberize used track shoes and road wheels. The process is part of the rebuild program that restores used track and road wheel components from military track vehicles to a like new condition. This program supports the Abrams Battle Tank, Bradley Fighting vehicle, M88 Hercules Retriever, MLRS & HIMARS Launch Platforms, M113 Armored Personnel Carrier, M109 Paladin, and many other vehicles that use a track type propulsion system. The Wheel Side Rubber is a surface that contacts the rubber on the road wheels. Without the rubber on both the road wheels and track shoes, there would be a metal-on metal condition which would promote wear, vibration, and noise. The Ground Side Rubber is the surface that supports the weight of the vehicle. The rubber dampens vibration and provides a soft surface that is less damaging to asphalt and concrete surfaces upon which the vehicle travels. The solicitation is issued on a Full and Open Competitive basis and could result in multiple Firm-Fixed-Price contracts. All vendors interested in obtaining the formulas for these materials shall submit a request for an NDA to Rich Morgan and Jeff Weiss at richard.d.morgan18.civ@mail.mil and jeffrey.l.weiss10.civ@mail.mil. Upon reciept of the NDA it will be sent to the Requirements Office for review and they will forward the formula to the interested vendors if applicable. ***Please note that material samples must be sent in for testing as part of the technical evalutaion for this solicitation. Please see Section M of the RFP for sample quanities. Vendors that are currently providing any of these materials to the U.S Governement may apply for a waiver that exempts them from having to submit test samples. A request for a waiver exemption should be sent to Rich Morgan and Jeff Weiss explaining why the offeror should be exempt from providing the samples. The Government wil review the request and either approve or reject the waiver and inform the vendor of the results.***
