- The purpose of this Sources Sought is to conduct Market Research to determine if responsible sources exist. The government will use this information to determine the best acquisition strategy for procurement. This announcement is for information and planning purposes only. Please advise that it is not to be construed as commitment by the government, implied, or otherwise to issue a solicitation or award a contract. The U.S. Forest Service is seeking qualified sources to provide elevator inspection and maintenance, and repairs for one elevator at the Southern Research Station Headquarters in Asheville, NC. a. Inspection & Maintenance. This includes; inspect and adjust and lubricate mechanical parts. Elevator Maintenance shall consist of the following but not limited to: 1. Inspect & Examine all components of the elevator for optimum performance and safe operation. 2. Maintenance: Contractor will keep guide rails properly lubricated at all times, and when necessary renew guide shoe gibs or rollers to insure smooth and quiet operation. Contractor will examine, lubricate, adjust, and/or repair the interlocks, button-station and other hatchway equipment. Lubrication and adjustment will also cover the following components of the elevator system: • Control and landing positioning systems & Signal fixtures • Power units, pumps, valves, and jacks • Car and hoist way door operating devices and door protection equipment • Load-weighers, car frames and platforms, and counterweights • Safety mechanisms • Lubricate equipment for smooth and efficient performance • Adjust elevator parts and components to maximize performance and safe operation 3. Annual Hydraulic Pressure Relief Test: The elevator code requires hydraulic pressure relief shall test be performed on this elevator annually. 4. Emergency Phone Monitoring: The vendor will monitor or have sub-contractor monitor the elevator emergency phone 24/7 to prevent individuals from being stranded in the elevator. b. Repair. Failure of any pumps, motors, controller parts, relays, or other mechanical parts not listed under maintenance, the contractor will provide the Forest Service with a cost estimate including all parts and labor for replacement. Work will not commence until approval is given by the CO.
