DESCRIPTION OF END ITEMS Mine Clearing Blade: - National Stock Number (NSN): 2590-01-230-8862 - Part Number: 13228E5945 The mine clearing blade, part number 13228E5945, directly mounts to the front of any M1 series Abrams tank. The blade is used to clear a path through mines that lie in front of the tanks. As the tank pushes the blade through a minefield, loose dirt and mines are rolled up onto moldboards. As the tank continues to push the blade, dirt and mines are pushed to the sides, clear of tracks. A chain and a dogbone assembly, integrated into the blade configuration and attached between the moldboards, detonates any tilt rod mines in the center lane. A control box located in the driver's compartment provides operator control for raising and lowering of the moldboards. A manual release system allows moldboards to be lowered to the plowing position in the event of electrical system failure. RESPONSE REQUIREMENTS Survey respondents must meaningfully address the entirety of this market survey. Respondents are requested to submit a statement, up to 10 pages in length, describing their interest, experience, and current capability to manufacture the mine clearing blade for the M1A2S Abrams series tank. Responses that do not address all areas of this market survey will not be reviewed. Respondents are requested to address the following additional requirements, which were not stated above: • Font size no smaller than 12. • Spell out acronyms in their first instance. • Do not reply with proprietary information. • Please include the following administrative information : o Company Name o Mailing Address o Company web-site o Location of facilities Please send the market survey response via email to Mr. Richard Clark, richard.a.clark3.civ@mail.mil and Mr. Ashis Patel, ashis.s.patel.civ@mail.mil.
