DESCRIPTION OF END ITEMS Mine Clearing Roller: - National Stock Number (NSN): 2590-01-134-3724 - Part Number: 13222E0327 - Specification Number: MIL-53007 Mounting Kit: - NSN: 2590-01-235-5458 - Part Number: 13227E7180 - Specification Number: MIL-M-53077A The mine clearing roller, part number 13222E0327, mounts to the front of any M1 series Abrams tank via the mounting kit, part number 13227E7180. Once affixed to the tank via the mounting kit, the roller is used to detect and detonate single-impulse, pressure actuated mines in the tank's track path. The roller is also capable of neutralizing tiltrod actuated mines between track paths. Other applications include detecting minefields, proofing lanes which have been cleared by other means, breaching minefields, and pursing enemy tanks when minefields may be a threat. The mounting kit provides the means to mount and release the roller on the tank. The mounting kit includes: a hydraulic system, two quick-disconnect mechanisms, two outboard mounting brackets, a center mounting bracket, two tie rods, and linkage (hook rod and lock rod) between the mounting brackets. The mounting brackets couple the rear of the pushbeams to the tank. Each quick-disconnect mechanism couples a pushbeam cable to the tank and is connected to the mounting brackets by a tie rod. The electrohydraulic pump is controlled by the Mine Roller Control Box (MRCB). The MRCB is located to the right of the driver. Power to the MRCB is supplied from the utility outlet on the hull networks distribution box and then to the pump by a set of relay contacts. On the M1A2 the MRCB is to the left rear of the driver. The MRCB power is supplied from the utility outlet on the Hull Power Distribution Unit (HPDU), through the Armored Junction Box (AJB), and external harness to the electrohydraulic pump."
