- USSOCOM continues to foster a culture that embraces and supports innovation in our research, development, and acquisition programs to meet the demanding needs of the Special Operator. To support USSOCOM's continued emphasis on innovation, SOF AT&L has established a venue called SOFWERX; an unclassified, open collaboration activity designed to bring non-traditional partners from industry, academia, and the government together to work on USSOCOM's most challenging problems. USSOCOM is using a diverse combination of recruiting strategies to provide the baseline technical workforce at SOFWERX, including employees of the Doolittle Institute non-profit organization, government and university interns, and most recently industry fellows provided and supported by interested industry partners. USSOCOM has vacancies for energetic technical experts from industry as Fellows in the SOFWERX innovation environment. Ability to work in a dynamic environment is a must. Desired Industry Fellowship qualifications: 1. Software Programmer - Coding 2. Senior Software Programmer - Algorithms 3. Electrical Engineer - Control Theory 4. Aerospace Engineer 5. Robotics Engineer 6. Systems Engineer 7. Mechanical Engineer 8. Software Programmer - Mobile Developer (Android etc.) Resume: Interested parties should submit a resume, five pages maximum, to IndustryFellow@socom.mil. The Government will rate candidates against the following selection criteria: - Minimum of five years of engineering experience; - Current active practicing engineer; - Strength and diversity of resume; - Track record of interest and experience in innovative or "maker" positions; and - American citizen Schedule: Resumes must be submitted via email to: IndustryFellow@socom.mil between now and 31 December 2018. Agreement: Details of the Industry Fellow relationship will be documented in an Individual Work Plan (IWP) under an existing SOCOM Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). If no such CRADA exists, one will be agreed to prior to building the IWP. An example IWP is attached. Length of Fellowship: The term of each fellowship will be agreed on in the IWP. In general, they will be no less than three months and no more than one year. But, they may be extended in three-month increments for a total of not more than one year with agreement of both parties. Terms and conditions: The private sector organization providing the Industry Fellow will have full responsibility for payment of all salary, allowances, and any benefits (i.e. medical care, worker's compensation) to their participating employee(s), including any travel and/or relocation expenses if the individual participant selected is outside of the local Tampa area.
