- Argonne National Laboratory (Argonne) is seeking to award a one-year duration with two one-year extensions, Blanket Purchasing Agreement (BPA) to a Machine Tool Service company to provide Preventive Maintenance functions (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual & annual) on a wide range of manually operated and CNC-controlled machine shop equipment including but not limited to: lathes, vertical and horizontal mills, machining centers, EDM's, press brakes and shears, and their control, hydraulic and cooling systems. In addition to preventive maintenance, the Machine Tool Service Company would be tasked with troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading the equipment listed above. The company is required to generate required records for each asset serviced. This contract would benefit Argonne's Central Shops organization. Central Shops owns approximately 100 machine tools ranging in age from recently acquired to over 50 years in age. Central Shops primary function is to provide an engineering and machine shop fabrication capability that supports Argonne's focus on state-of-the-art research and development, meeting the needs of Argonne's scientific programs. On the whole, Central Shops does the prototype work, which is not easily done by private industry. The selected company will be required to: •· Have a local presence in the greater Chicagoland area •· Provide technical response within 24 hours of a Service Request (only local travel is authorized unless prior approval is granted in writing by Argonne); •· Have the ability to perform activities in a timely manner; •· Deploy NFPA 70E certified employees and OSHA 10 certified employees; •· Must pass and maintain Argonne's Contractor Safety Orientation Course; •· Have a written comprehensive company safety plan. Preferred but not required are: •· ISO or QS Certification •· Factory/OEM Service Authorization or Training Companies given the strongest consideration will have a history of providing these services in an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) framework to machine tool operators and show they are capable of consistently providing high quality services while balancing schedule and budget demands. Specific Assignments under the contract will be issued with the understanding that work will begin immediately to meet Argonne's needs.
