Description
Notice of Intent to Sole Source: PlasmaBladesTM The Department of Veterans SAO West, Network Contracting Office 19, located at 6162 South Willow Drive Suite 300, Greenwood Village, CO 80111 intends to enter into sole source purchase order agreement authorized by FAR 13.106- 1(b), Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. Under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b), the Department of Veterans Affairs intends to award a sole source purchase order to the Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Veterans Healthcare Supply Solutions, Inc, 13949 Alvarez Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32218. The associated North America Classification Systems (NAICS) Code is 339112 and the Business Size Standard is 1,000 employees. The Salt Lake City Veterans Health Care System is in the need to purchase the PlasmaBladeTM for use in the Cardiology Department. The PlasmaBladeTM, is like a Bovie. It is an electrosurgical dissection blade. The PlasmaBladeTM soft tissue dissection device uses brief, precise pulses of radiofrequency (RF) energy to cut and coagulate soft tissue. RF energy, combined with a proprietary insulation technology, enables the PlasmaBlade to dissect with the precision of a scalpel, and the bleeding control of traditional electro surgery, while producing minimal thermal damage to surrounding tissue. A determination not to compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the U.S. Government.
