- Proportional Heat Controller Test Set RFI Purpose/Description : This RFI supports a potential effort for the Proportional Heat Controller Test Set and is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for qualification and production of this system for use by the U.S. Air Force. If after reviewing the requirement, you desire to participate in the RFI, you should provide documentation that supports your company's capability in meeting these requirements. If you lack sufficient experience/capabilities in a particular area, please provide details explaining how you would overcome the lack of experience/capabilities in order to perform that portion of the requirement (i.e., teaming, subcontracting, etc.) Both large and small businesses are encouraged to participate in this survey. However, this RFI will in part, assist the Air Force in determining set-aside potential. Contractors/Institutions responding to this market research are placed on notice that participation in this survey may not ensure participation in future solicitations or contract awards. The Government will not reimburse participants for any expenses associated with their participation in this survey. The Proportional Heat Controller Test Set is used to perform functional testing at the B-52 aircraft and perform functional checkout of the turret and turret window heat controllers in the field level shop. Adapter cables are included as part of the tester, in addition has the capability of checkout, calibration, fault isolation, and adjustment of the heat controllers in depot level shops. The F310989-501 has test jacks on the instrument panel to permit connection of auxiliary equipment for high accuracy measurements and also has an additional switch on the panel to allow the selection of preset load values. The tester is a portable unit consisting of a control panel, an input power cable and three adapter cables enclosed in a standard transit-type case. The control panel contains all the electrical components. The input power cable and three adapter cables are stowed behind the inner hinged lid. The input power cable is approximately 6 feet long and the adapter cables are approximately 8 feet long. Each cable is fitted with plugs for connection to the tester and external equipment. With the lid closed, the tester is approximately 23 inches long, 18 inches wide, and 13 inches high. The tester weighs approximately 65 pounds and occupies approximately 3.1 cubic feet of space.
