- THE BELOW IS PROVIDED REGARDING ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS AND ARE PROVIDED FOR PURPOSES OF CLARIFICATION. However, he did add another concern.... as follows quote........"the material for 6407375 states: Polymer, IPC-5000, TY-IPC-5304. I am assuming this is some type of plastic, but all the plastic houses are not quoting because they cannot identify what this material is. Can you offer a more complete description?" ANS: I reached out to our In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) to get more information on the polymer and this is the information that they were able to provide: "The impeller seal rings were made from Ryton which was the previous name of HY101 Alton polymer made by Hoerbiger America. That is the required material. Material may be procurable from them, however pressing the ring onto the ring is problematic. If that's what you have in mind. Proper tolerancing and an understand of the stresses associated with installing the plastic on the ring is necessary.
