- Description
- NASA/JSC has a requirement for a new (2) water pump for a space suit life support system (SSLPS). NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS). This is for the development, manufacture, testing, analysis, and delivery of water pumps for SSLPS. The complexity of the design required for the pumps to work with the portable life support system (PLSS) and SWME Express Rack Flight Experiment (SERFE). This pump design includes a 3D printed housing that offers several benefits including reducing the number of parts required in the design. UTAS's latest pump design is the subject of this procurement, and has been partially developed over the past year. This is the only pump in the world that has been built with the PLSS and SERFE requirements specifically in mind. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. central time zone on December 20, 2017. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
