- Description
- RFP A compact, eat-on-the-move assault ration designed for short durations of highly mobile, high intensity combat operations. It is the initial deployment ration for the first 72 hours of a mission, with follow-up feeding of the Meal, Ready-to-Eat (MRE). The FSR provides weight and cube savings of almost 50% to the MRE, and can be consumed on the move. Where the MRE feeds a single meal, and provides 1250 kilocalories (kcal) per meal, the FSR is issued 1 per day (for 3 meals), and will provide 2850 kcal or 950 kcal per meal. There are currently nine menus included in a single FSR case, each has a shelf life of 24 months at 80 degrees Fahrenheit
