Description

Notice of Intent to Sole Source to Stryker Neurovascular. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract and is not a request for quotes. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Portland VA Medical Center intends to award a firm fixed price sole source contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. Competition Requirements and FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Stryker Corporation 47900 Bayside PKWY Fremont, CA 94538 This acquisition is being processed as a Single Source requirement IAW FAR 13-106.1(b)(1). The Portland VAMC has equipment in their IR lab that are only compatible with certain vascular implants. These implants are critical to the facility and not having these products available will have a direct impact on patient care. If products were purchased from another company, new equipment would also have to be purchased or leased to make sure everything is compatible. The cost and time of acquiring new equipment far exceeds to the cost and efficiency of continued use of existing products. Also, Stryker Corp. is familiar with the delivery schedule and use of these critical items. The NAICS code for this requirement is 339112 Surgical & Medical Instrument Manufacturing and the size standard is 1,000 employees. This notice of intent to sole source is not a request for quotes. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
