Description
Salt Bowns Vegetation Treatment Project 2017 IN APPROXIMATELY 1 DAY, THE SOLICITATION FOR THIS COMMERCIAL SERVICE PROJECT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO VIEW AND PRINT. SCOPE OF WORK The overall purpose of the project is to restore the declining health of forest vegetation due to insect and disease infestations and the long term exclusion of fire; and to reduce the amount of accumulated fuel (vegetation), reducing the future risk of large, severe wildfire. Specifically, there are thee needs identified for this project: 1. Maintain and restore the health of forested stands in response to current insect and disease levels. This can be accomplished by thinning overstocked stands, reducing the basal area of the stands, removing the sick and diseased trees, encouraging growth and vigor of healthy trees, and reintroducing fire into the ecosystem. 2. Enhance and restore habitat for wildlife species of concern in old Douglas-fir forest. This can be accomplished by preserving old Douglas-fir stands by removing smaller, competing trees, and reducing fuels to reduce the risk of losing large trees from wildfire. 3. Reduce the amount of vegetative fuel loading to lower the fire regime condition class. This can be accomplished by removing trees (thinning, harvesting), and by using prescribed fire to lessen the amount and composition of overall vegetation in and around these forest stands. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, supervision, transportation, supplies (except those designated as Government furnished), and incidentals to perform all work necessary on the areas specified. LOCATION The project is located approximately 32 miles North of Fairfield, Idaho on the Fairfield District of the Sawtooth National Forest. The area can be accessed from Fairfield, ID going north on Soldier Rd, east on Base Line Rd, north on Soldier Creek Rd, continue north on National Forest Rd 094, north on National Forest Rd 227(Ketchum/Featherville RD), north on National Forest Rd 012 (Fleck Summit RD) to the project area. The proposed treatment area includes portions of the following: T3N R13E, Sections 3-4. CONTACT STEVE CLEZIE FOR MORE INFORMATION (208) 737-3256. CONTRACT TIME WILL BE from August 1, 2017 for 123 calendar days. NAICS Code: 115310 Size Standard: $19.5. This proposed procurement is a TOTAL SMALL BUSINESS set-aside.
