Description
4 Performance Work Statement Prime Zoom Stretchers w/ Scale **New ED//GI//CathLab** Phoenix Veterans Administration Health Care Services 650 E. Indian School Road Phoenix, AZ 85012 Equip: POC: Joseph Nickels x5897 1.0 Scope of Work (Purpose) In Cardiology and Gastroenterology, stretchers are used intra-procedurally. In the Emergency Room, stretchers provide a destination for patients to be admitted and seen by the medical and clinical staff. Workflow processes that maximize efficiency and patient safety are as follows: In Cardiology and Gastroenterology the patient is admitted to a pre/post procedure bay and is prepped for the procedure on a stretcher (IV start, Changed into gown, patient assessment, and so on). In the Emergency Department, the patient is admitted to the patient bay and positioned on the gurney which provides many of the same benefits as in Cardiology and Gastroenterology with additional security features found with the integrated exit alarms. Patients are wheeled into procedural areas for their procedures where conscious sedation and or anesthesia are administered. At the conclusion of a procedure the patient is wheeled back into the Pre/Post procedure care area for recover and discharge. The workflow benefit gains that result from good stretcher utilization are: Minimize patient transfers thus reducing patient risk of fall. Reduced risk of staff injuries that result from patient transfers. Improved patient comfort and satisfaction. Improved productivity and efficiency of departments because time used for transferring and positioning patients is reduced. In accordance with Appendix A, Handbook 6500.6 Checklist block 6, the C&A requirements do not apply to this requirement, and Security Accreditation Package is not required. In accordance with Appendix A, Handbook 6500.6 Checklist block 7, Due to the non-technical nature of this requirement there is no information to be protected.   The period of performance will be 30 days after receipt of award. 2.0 Specifications Positioning: Recovery chair positioning with manual hydraulic backup lift assist Manual hydraulic knee catch Able to achieve both Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg Power: Motorized Drive Retractable cord for integrated battery charge system, 120 volt system Integrated rechargeable battery charge system Form and function Maximum 31 inch width to fit through doorways Accurate Integrated Scales, which is included with the Chaperone (stretcher exit alarm) 700 pound patient weight capacity Permanently attached IV poles   (prevents simultaneous pushing of separate iv poles or laying bags on the stretcher during transport) Zero-gap side rails that fold underneath and out of the way (require no additional space through doorways) Bilateral secure side rails with easy staff releases on both sides Corner cap color coding ability (to match current designated equipment color coding indicating equipment assigned Home location)   RED for ED designation, PURPLE for GI       Assist in rapid visual identification for maintaining equipment in its home location Exit alarms with weight sensors with minimum two zone alert Foot and head end covers   (This is the casing that is normally on stretchers) Litter mounted O2 tank holder Upgraded mattress   (pressure prevention) Description of how the equipment being requested operates: In Cardiology and Gastroenterology, stretchers are used intra-procedurally. In the Emergency Room, stretchers provide a destination for patients to be admitted and seen by the medical and clinical staff. Where will the equipment being requested be used: Cardiology is developing, with the support of senior leadership a pre/post procedure care unit for Cath Lab and Cardiology procedures in the 6 patient care bays (E411I, E411J, E411K, E411L, E411M, and E411N) as well as the Cardiac Cath Lab room #4123. Gastroenterology Department procedure room (D611, D613, D615, D617, D618, D621, D622) and pre and post procedure (D612) Emergency Department is building a new 21 bay unit that has no room number designations as of yet. Who will be using the equipment: Nursing and Medical staff as well as transportation services Justification: Gastroenterology Department: Increased work load from a capacity of approximately 25 patients to 40 per day =200+ a week Need pre-op weight for every procedure. Approximately 25% of patient are wheelchair-bound or fall risk. Using the integrated scale instead of the traditional upright scale will decrease the change of patient fall as well as staff injury. Currently 13 gurneys on hand but requesting 10 additional for a total of 23 to accommodate patient load which will allow pre-procedure work up expediting patient flow. Cardiology Pre/Post Procedure Care: Currently outpatients are transferred to short stay beds on the Telemetry floor. This represents as much as 80% of the short stay volume on telemetry on any given day. In order alleviate this potential barrier to more appropriate admissions, a proposal has been approved by leadership to repurpose the 6 patient care bays in E411 as pre and post procedure care for cardiology. Improved clinical workflow in the Cath Lab with prepped and ready for Cath Lab procedures on a stretcher that can be wheeled directly into the procedure room and transferred directly to the exam table. These bays will also be used for other cardiology procedures such as transesophageal echocardiograms, cardioversions, and a holding area for clinic patients awaiting inpatient beds, and so on. All cardiac cath patients require a pre-procedure weight to be entered into the hemodynamic system prior to the start of the procedure. Currently there is one motorized stretcher in the Cath Lab requesting an additional seven to augment the existing one as well as six more to occupy the six bays in E411. Emergency Department: Facilitate safe transport of patients to and from procedural areas in the hospital Transport of patients to admitting wards. Need to weigh patients for safe calculations of medications for titration doses. New emergency department with 21 bays for patient care (room numbers not available at this time). Many patients seen are unsteady; using the integrated scale will reduce the risk for patients falling and reduce the risk for staff injury. The intergraded exit alarms provide an additional layer of patient safety in the prevention of elopement. 3.0 Delivery and Shipping Information: The contractor shall provide the following for shipment and delivery of equipment: All items shall be shipped to the following location: Carl T Hayden VAMC 650 E Indian School Rd Phoenix, AZ 85012 Attention:
