Description
This sources sought notice is a follow-on to Sources Sought for Medium Caliber Cartridge Production, #W52P1J-16-S-MCAL notice (released 5 August 2016) and #W52P1J-17-S-MCAL notice (released 6 February 2017). The U.S. Army Contracting Command, Rock Island (ACC-RI), on behalf of the Office of the Project Manager, Maneuver Ammunition Systems (PM-MAS), is seeking to identify potential sources capable of manufacturing the 30x173mm Mk310 Mod 0 Programmable AirBurst Munition - Tracer (PABM-T) cartridge in support of the United States Army. This airburst munition is fired from the 30mm XM813 weapon system. The current anticipated requirement is for FY19 for approximately 33,000 cartridges, however additional requirements may materialize for FY20-FY23. The main components are a cartridge case, flashtube loaded with booster pellets, M36A2 percussion primer, propellant, projectile loaded with high explosive, packaging, tracer, and a fuze that can be programmed and has point detonating, point detonating delay, and airburst capabilities. The airburst fuze shall be inductively set with turns count to function the munition. It shall also have a self-destruct capability if the projectile fails to function on the battlefield. Planned Acquisition: This acquisition is for a potential procurement beginning in FY19 to support an urgent materiel release. The Government also plans on continuing to explore other long term solutions to meet this requirement. Submission Information: Interested U.S./Canadian firms who feel they are capable of manufacturing the above cartridges are invited to indicate their interest by providing the Government: 1) A brief summary of its company's capabilities, facilities, personnel, and past manufacturing experience, and 2) Monthly production capacities with assumptions about number of shifts and any other production factors that may affect monthly capacities, Information shall be provided electronically to Ms. Julie Schmoll at Julie.a.schmoll.civ@mail.mil. Offerors are instructed to include "30mm Medium Caliber Cartridges" as the subject of their response. Please respond no later than 15 calendar days from this synopsis' posted date. This market survey is for planning purposes only and the requirements may change. This shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey or otherwise pay for information solicited.
