- NASA/JSC has a requirement for a MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPE Model Number S-4800. NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Hitachi High Technology. This procurement is for the renewal of a yearly service/ maintenance agreement with Hitachi for the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Model number S-4800. As the original manufacturer and vendor for the equipment, Hitachi is the only practical source for this service/maintenance agreement due to its unique knowledge and capability in regard to the SEM. Proper maintenance and rapid troubleshooting requires a familiarity with the characteristic of the instrument and the ability to service the instrument with access to replacement parts as needed. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to Craig Burridge at craig.g.burridge@nasa.gov not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on 12/27/2016. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
