Description
FBO DESCRIPTION The Contractor shall provide labor and materials to perform the required annual inspection and certification of the critical components of the piped medical gas systems including: Master and area alarms (in the Spring of the year) Source equipment (in the Spring of the year) Automatic pressure switches Shutoff valves (ambient leakage only) Flexible connectors Outlets (wall, ceiling, and boom arm) Quarterly hydrocarbon testing (Medical air compressors) And all others as defined by the Project COR at the VA Health Care System (VAHCS) facility, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The testing and certification procedures shall follow NFPA-99, 2015 version guidelines. All medical gas outlets shall be tested for: Flow Functionality Purity, to include Particulate, gas concentration, and cross-connection. There are approximately 36 alarms and 58 medical gas zones, with 3000 outlets, located throughout the Minneapolis VAHCS facility. A minimum of 75% of the outlets shall be tested, with locations to be at the discretion of the VA. The majority of the inspections will be performed during off-peak hours, which normally means during the evening and overnight hours. All Contractor employees shall be accompanied by VA Police or other authorized designees in order to access all required work areas. The work shall be scheduled and set up at least 48 hours in advance of work to be performed, with notification and acceptance from Facilities Engineering, any affected departments and VA Police of the VAHCS. Medical Gas Inspector Qualifications: The Contractor shall hold a current and valid ASSE Medical Gas Verifier 6030 certification, ensuring all qualifications meet the requirements as stated in the 2015 version of NFPA 99. Any personnel representing the contractor and performing the actual inspections shall also be qualified to at least the ASSE Medical Gas Verifier 6030 certification level. The VAHCS shall receive the copy of the certifications upon acceptance of any contract award or no work shall be performed, nor accepted, until proof of licensing is verified. The Contractor shall use testing equipment that is calibrated and adheres to the standards and criteria set forth by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), as recommended by the ISO-9001 requirements. As proof of current calibration, the Contractor shall provide a Traceable Calibration Certificate to the VAHCS, presented upon initial contract issuance and each time certificates are updated. Each Service Technician shall be trained and qualified to test and repair the equipment they are dispatched to diagnose, repair and/or perform maintenances services upon.
