Description
Subject: Request for Information (RFI) Vacuum Conveying, Resin Drying/Dehumidifying and Blending System THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY for a vacuum conveying resin drying and blending system which are capable of meeting the basic requirements described below. This is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP) or an Invitation for Bid (IFB). It is a market research tool being used to determine the availability and adequacy of potential sources for planning purposes only. Responses to this notice are not considered as offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of responses nor otherwise pay for the preparation of any information presented or the use of any such information. DESCRIPTION: The U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development & Engineering (NSRDEC) is requesting information to identify sources who could supply a vacuum conveying resin drying and blending system. Specifically, NSRDEC is requesting information on commercially available equipment that will meet the following requirements: • Drying & Dehumidifying: to dry a total throughput of 50-90 pounds per hour of free flowing Nylon pellets with a bulk density of approximately 40 pounds per cubic foot resulting in a -40ºF dew point • Blending: blend nylon up to 3 additive components at 35 pounds per cubic foot at a rate of up to 30 pounds per hour o Component 1: 67% of free-flowing virgin pellets @ 35 lb/cu ft o Component 2: 16.5% of free-flowing pelletized additive @ 35 lb/cu ft o Component 3: 16.5% of free-flowing pelletized color additive @ 35 lb/cu ft REQUESTED INFORMATION: The following specific information is requested from potential sources on the drying & dehumidifying equipment systems: • Brand name and model number • Product/item features/description to include the following performance characteristics: o Exposure time o Drying temperature o Dew point o Volume and capacity o Controller features (e.g., audible and visual alarm, temperature setback, dewpoint monitor and/or controller) o Distribution box characteristics (e.g., quick clean) • Product/item specifications to include: o Dimensions o Weight o Power requirements o other utility (e.g., water) requirements • Optional features (e.g., purge valve, drain port, etc.) The following specific information is requested from potential sources on the blending equipment systems: • Brand name and model number • Product/item features/description to include the following performance characteristics: o Batch size o Maximum throughput rate per hour o Maximum number of materials o bin capacity o vacuum pump line size and horsepower o Controller features (e.g., touch screen display, recipe changes, reporting capabilities and/or on-screen diagnostics) • Product/item specifications to include: o Dimensions o Weight o Power requirements o other utility (e.g., compressed air) requirements • Optional features (e.g., sound enclosures, material level alarm control, drain chute, etc.) • Interface options/characteristics to an extrusion system Sources may submit product brochures, pictures and other product literature. Also include the following information for both equipment systems: • 2017 Price List • Production lead time and estimated delivery time • Shipping terms (e.g., FOB Destination) • Installation services, if available • Warranty period and pertinent information • Spare Parts availability time (e.g., within 24-48 hours) • Emergency service and/or maintenance information Respondents are requested to provide information by Tuesday, 31 January 2017/3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Documents may be submitted via hardcopy and/or electronically, in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and/or Adobe Professional format, and provided on compact disk (CD). No telephonic or e-mail responses to this RFI will be considered. Any information submitted will not be returned, and no payment will be made by the Government for such information. The Government reserves the right to use information provided by respondents for any purpose deemed necessary and legally appropriate. Any organization responding to this notice should ensure that its response is complete and sufficiently detailed. Information provided will be used to assess tradeoffs and alternatives available for any potential requirement. Input on technical aspects of the responses may be solicited by NSRDEC from non-Government consultants/experts who are bound by appropriate non-disclosure requirements. By responding to this RFI, the Respondent agrees to allow such input from non-Government consultants/experts concerning the information and materials submitted.
