Description
The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions from industry. Q1: Please provide the exact dimensions of the Structurally Integrated Enclosure (SIE). A1: Drawings of the SIE have been provided. The SIE at the base is 57 inches by 57 inches and stands 86.5 inches tall. Q2: There is no defined Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) procedure for the Common Submarine Radio Room (CSRR) listed in Attachment # 3. Please advise if this fixture will be used during the FAT? If so, please provide test requirements and CSRR dimensions. A2: The CSRR fixture can be can be used as the test mass to conduct the testing in section 4.4 if the manufacturer does not have a 1000 pound test mass. Q3: Please provide test durations for the Vibration Endurance Tests listed in section 4.2 of the FAT. A3: The endurance test will be 2 hours in the vertical direction and 2 hours in the horizontal direction. Q4: Is the intent of Section 4.4 Requirements of the FAT to confirm the equipment can meet all the specifications in the table utilizing a 1,000 pound test mass? A4: Yes, the test mass can be provided by the manufacture or a CSRR fixture can be provided by NUWC. The CSRR fixture measures 36 inches by 36 inches at the base and is 63 inches tall. The center of gravity of the CSRR fixture is approximately 10 inches from the base. The weight is within +10 percent of the 1000 pound minimum requirement. Q5: At the final installation site, will the shaker be secured to a seismic mass (bolted down to the floor) or will the shaker/base float on the air bags provided by the supplier? A5: The shaker will be lowered on to the recessed concert floor where the shaker/base will sit on an isolation system provide by the manufacturer. The depth of the recessed flooring will be based on the manufacturer's slip plate height. The shaker will be lowered into the recessed flooring area, resting firmly on the concert so that the slip plate will be 12 inches above the lab floor. Q6: Is a remote control panel required allowing system startup and status monitoring from a location away from the power amplifier? A6: No, this is not a requirement.
