- Description
- The Research Vessel Acoustic Explorer (AX) is equipped with Detroit Diesel 16-V-92N engines. These engines are obsolete and are becoming increasingly more difficult to maintain. Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesel engines coupled with Twin Disc MGX5222 gear sets have been purchased to replace the existing engines. The purpose of this requirement is to identify the requirements and expectations for a skilled/experienced engineering and design services company familiar with engine replacement to create an acceptable drawing package for the replacement of the propulsion diesel engines on the AX.
