- J&A The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Prototype and Manufacturing Division, had an urgent requirement to procure Stabilized Optics Tables, P/N 3429AS8600-2, for the Improved Fresnel Lens Optical Land-Based System for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) France and for the U.S. Navy, Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) to replenish the federal stock system. The Stabilized Optics Tables are Critical Application Items (CAI) and are integral in communicating landing coordinates with pilots. Per SECNAVINST 4140.2(E)(2)(a), all capable contractors required prior approval from the Engineering Support Activity at NAWCAD Lakehurst for CAI. The procurement was solicited under 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(2) and FAR 5.202(a)(2), Unusual and Compelling Urgency. The contract was awarded on 14 September 2016 to Central Metal Fabricators, Inc. under N68335-16-C-0443.
