- On September 15, 2016, the Coast Guard exercised an option for Detail Design on Eastern Shipbuilding Group's Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC) contract, commencing the Phase II effort. Eastern Shipbuilding Group was selected after a thorough evaluation of the three proposals submitted by the OPC Phase I Contractors. In addition to the Detail Design effort, Phase II of the OPC contract includes priced options for production of the Lead OPC and up to eight follow-on cutters, all under a fixed price incentive fee arrangement. The Detail Design effort will continue through the delivery of the Lead OPC, estimated for FY2021.
