- Statement of Work Sole Source Justification The U.S. Department of Commerce/National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service, Wallops CDA Station, Wallops Island, Virginia 23337, intends to award on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) to Santasalo Gears Inc., 380 Business Parkway, Greer, SC 29651. The Wallops Command Data Acquisition Station (WCDAS) requires the rebuilding of one (1) Azimuth Gear box serial number W09704 to certified serviceable condition to satisfy the agency's needs to restore the HR2 antenna tracking operation and will provide one (1) new replacement Azimuth Gear box for a spare. These Santasalo Gears proprietary gear boxes will be used on the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) HR2 antenna at WCDAS. The key operational component of the antenna drive system are the two (2) Azimuth gear boxes which in conjunction with the antenna control system provides precision pointing and tracking functions. This accuracy enables capture of data and telemetry for the satellite and provides simultaneous commanding to the satellite. This automation of tracking allows the WCDAS to meet its current and planned requirements for scheduled support. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: One (1) New Santasalo Gears, Azimuth Gear box PN: P40 030F 1000/HVN One (1) Certified Repaired Azimuth Gear box PN: P40 030F 1000/HVN, SN: W09704 (WCDAS property) DELIVERABLE SCHEDULE: March 2017 for One (1) New Gear box (Considering 8 month lead time per Santasalo Gears) October 2016 for One (1) Repaired Gear box Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or a solicitation for offers. However, parties interested in responding to this notice shall submit technical data, including cost, sufficient to determine capability in providing the same product to Donna L. Cohee, Contract Specialist at donna.l.cohee@noaa.gov by August 31, 2016, no later than 5:00 PM (ET). All capability statements received by this closing date of this notification of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This acquisition is being conducted under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition procedures. There are no set-aside restrictions for this requirement. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) 333612-Speed Changer, Industrial High-Speed Drive and Gear Manufacturing. This is for informational purposes only and not to be considered as a commitment by the Government. Any information submitted to this notice of intent is voluntary.
