- The US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) intends to exerise clause 52.217-8 Option to Extend Services for a total of 6-months through a sole source; firm-fixed-priced; modification against contract W81XWH-11-C-0101 in support of the US Army Medical Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD). The option was not evaluated as part of the initial competition therefore; the modification statuatory authority is Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1(a)(2)(iii)(B), Only Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services will Satisfy Agency Requirements. The contract W81XWH-11-C-0101 was competed and awarded to SoBran Incorporated of 4401 Dayton-Xenia Road, Dayton, OH 45432, with a 12-month base period and 4 12-month option periods. The contract provides routine animal care, husbandry support, sanitation and cleaning of all equipment and animals facilities, animal handling, and comparative pathology support services. The different species include birds, reptiles, rodents, rabbits, livestock animals and world non-human primates. During this 6-month extension, the USAMRICD will be moving the equipment for the animals and the animals into USAMRICD's new building located at E2900 Ricketts Point Road, Aberdeen Proving Ground South, 21010. Contiunity of services is vital during this transition and a break in service would be dretemental to the research mission of USAMRICD. During the 6-month extension, a re-compete will be conducted. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 541712. This notice of intent is not a request for proposals or quotes. If parties choose to respond, any cost associated with preparation and submission of data or any cost incurred in response to this annoucement are solely the responsbility of the respondent and will not be reimbursed by the Government. A determination not to open the requirement to competition is solely within the discretion of the Government.
