- Description
- This project is for the expanding Fuller Road from US Highway 1 to Mason Drive (approximately 0.5 miles), relocation of utilities, demolition of existing structures, and construction of support facilities. Road expansion will include construction of additional traffic lanes. Construction will meet the Virginia Department of Transportation Road Specifications. Demolition will include removal of the current gatehouse at Gate 1 on Fuller Road. Site preparation includes forest clearing, grading, retaining walls, and incidental related work. Utility relocation will include rerouting of information systems including basic telephone, computer network, fiber optic, security, and fire alarm systems as well as infrastructure utilities. Electrical utilities include relocation and replacement of primary and secondary distribution systems, lighting, underground transformers, lightning protection, security system, and traffic signals. Mechanical utilities include heating, ventilation and air conditioning, water lines, plumbing and plumbing fixtures, sanitary sewer lines, fire protection systems and supply lines. New construction will include a gatehouse, two sentry houses, and personnel weather shelters. The gatehouse and sentry houses will be constructed of CMU walls with brick and/or cast tone veneer, slab on grade foundation, and sloped standing seam metal roofing. Weather shelters will consist of canopy structures and outdoor storage areas utilizing drilled piers with spread footings, structural steel frames, and sloped standing seam metal roof. All new construction will comply with the base exterior architecture plan including Georgian architectural facades
