- This is a sources sought notice and is not a solicitation to request for quote and no purchase order shall be awarded from this synopsis. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Office of Acquisition and Grants (OAG) is conducting market research to locate potential sources to provide services on genetic and demographic patterns of population of the Northern Spotted Owl, primary in Washington and Oregon. Carry out population genetic, phylogeographic and pedigree analyses for Spotted Owls based on mitochondrial DNA data and microsatellite data being generated in the USGS FRESC Conservation Genetics Lab for Northern and California Spotted Owls as well as demographic data collected in the field and pedigree information collected from the >25 long-term demographic sites. Provide a manuscript prepared for Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences containing analyses of wild animal pedigrees proving the concept and statistics in digital format. Work with research manager to carry out reviews required by USGS Fundamental Science Practices (FSP) and resolution of FSP and journal reviews to create a final manuscript for publication. Provide all datasets with metadata identified used in analyses for Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences manuscript in a clearly identifiable, useable digital format. Provide all final statistical results used in analyses for manuscript in a clearly identifiable digital format. Provide documentation of and, coding for analyses used in manuscript in digital format.
