Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), Division of Population Health (DPH), intends to issue a competitive Request for Quote (RFQ) for the acquisition of ongoing development and support services of the Work@Health® Employer training program and related initiatives. This is a total small business set-aside effort. It is anticipated that the resultant contract will be firm-fixed price type with a period of performance of twelve (12) months. This acquisition is competed in accordance with FAR Part 13 and the proposed NAICS code for this requirement is 611430, Professional and Management Development Training. The RFQ will be posted on FedBizOpps and is expected to be released on or about July 29, 2016. Interested parties are responsible for checking the website regularly for release of the RFQ and for other procurement-related documents. TELEPHONE CALLS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. The information provided in this pre-solicitation is for information purposes only. If there are any differences in the information provided here and the actual solicitation when released, the information provided in the actual solicitation shall govern. Increasing health care costs and health-related decreases in worker productivity are leading American businesses to examine strategies to improve employee health and contain health costs that are largely driven by chronic diseases and related lifestyle choices. Employers are recognizing the role they can play in creating a healthy work environment and providing their employees with opportunities to make healthy lifestyle choices. The approach that has proven most effective is to implement an evidence-based comprehensive health promotion program that includes individual risk reduction programs, coupled with environmental supports for healthy behaviors and is coordinated and integrated with other wellness activities. However, only 6.9% of employers offer a comprehensive worksite health promotion program, according to a 2004 national survey. Several studies have concluded that well designed worksite health promotion programs can improve the health of employees and save money for employers instituting these programs. Work@Health® is a comprehensive workplace health training program that has supported employers of various sizes, industry sectors, and geographic areas as well as other participants who support employer workplace health efforts such as health departments, business coalitions, and trade associations from 2014-2016. The program helps employers develop a skill set and capacity to build or enhance a science-based workplace health program through basic and intermediate level training and technical assistance. Between 2013-2016, the CDC Workplace Health Program developed and pilot tested a comprehensive workplace health training curriculum that is built on a problem-based approach and focused on improving employer knowledge and skills and evaluated basic and intermediate level training and technical assistance with more than 500 employers and practitioners. This year, the CDC Workplace Health Program would like to develop additional components into the existing training program to make implementation and management of the program more efficient as well as plan to scale up the training's reach and impact. All inquiries must be in writing and sent to Liubov Kriel by email at vyh1@cdc.gov and reference solicitation # 2016-Q-65533 on the subject line. The Contracting Officer will not respond to verbal request. All requests must be in writing.
