- Amendment 01 - Extend Closing Date / Time PROJECT TITLE Roof replacement at the Heather Meadows Visitor Center, Mt. Baker Ranger District, Washington State (Whatcom County) PROJECT DESCRIPTION The intent of this firm-fixed-price construction contract is to reroof, replacement of purlin, replace rafters, and rebuild the rock chimney. The work includes tear-off of existing roof, purlin and rafters, install new flashing, new vents, decking, and install new roof. This project requires compliance with the Davis-Bacon Act (DBA) and the applicable U.S. Department of Labor Wage Determination will be provided upon issuance of the formal solicitation. ESTIMATED DATE SOLICITATION WILL BE ISSUED Fifteen (15) calendar days from the issuance of this pre-solicitation notice. ALTERNATE PAYMENT PROTECTION IS REQUIRED Contracts between $35,000.00 and $150,000.00 will require 100% payment bond. DISCLOSURE OF THE MAGNITUDE OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS Between $25,000 and $100,000 DESIRED START DATE August 1, 2016 PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE Sixty (60) calendar days PROJECT LOCATION The Heather Meadows Visitor Center is located on the Mt. Baker Highway, State Route 542 in the Austin Pass area of Heather Meadows. The area is at MP 50-54. Highway 542 is reached via Interstate 5, Exit No. 255. BRAND NAME OR EQUAL (FAR 11.104 and FAR Clause 52.211-6) The Forest Service is specifying a brand name or equal roofing product to preserve the historic appearance of these buildings. The salient physical, functional, or performance characteristics of the brand name item will be detailed in the solicitation as required by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) FAR 52.211-6.
