- Details on shipcheck time/ location/ and access instructions. 1. Action Code: Presolicitation 2. Date: 14 April 2016 3. Year: Fiscal Year: It is anticipated that a Contract award may be made during FY 2016. Performance is scheduled to commence in December of FY 2017. 6. Contracting Office Address: Military Sealift Command Norfolk 471 C St. Naval Station Norfolk Norfolk, VA 23511 7. Subject: SCOPE OF WORK. The U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command (MSC) will be conducting a 179-day Extended Service Life Program (ESLP) repair availability for the USS MT WHITNEY starting 15 Dec 2016, along with an optional 30-day Post Shipyard Availability (PSA) starting on or about 13 Jun 2017. AREA OF CONSIDERATION. Mediterranean, west of 20 degrees east longitude, including the Adriatic Sea and locations outside the Mediterranean (Cadiz, Portugal, northern Spain). PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE. One (1) 179 day firm period beginning December 2016, with an optional 30-day PSA. CRITICAL PATH ITEMS. General: Some of the major modernization efforts planned for this availability will include: • Communication Systems such as CANES, NMT, CBSP • Stern Tube Shaft, Propeller Shaft, Rudder Stock, Stern Tube, Stern Tube Bearings and full re-alignment • Habitability Modifications • Steel Replacement various tanks, voids, side-shell, fan rooms, boiler foundation, reduction gear foundation, etc • Dry Docking and ABS Surveys VESSEL SURVEY Interested Parties will be afforded two (2) opportunities to survey the vessel and perform a shipcheck. See attached document "USS MTW Shipcheck Opportunity Notice". 8. Proposed Solicitation Number: N32205-16-R-4601 9. Closing Response Date: Responses to the shipcheck opportunity must be received no later than 03 May 2016. The closing date for the solicitation will be provided with the solicitation upon release.
