NOAA's Acquisition & Grants Office, Western Acquisition Division-Boulder, in support of the National Weather Service (NWS) is conducting market research for the replacement of a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) for the NEXRAD Weather Surveillance Radar WSR-88D. The LNA operates from 2.7-3.0 GHz with a gain of 34.5 dB +-0.5dB at 25 deg. C. It has N- type connectors for 20 dB coupler, RF Input and RF output. Its operating temperature ranges from -40 deg C to 54 deg C with a noise figure of 0.5dB not to exceed 0.85 dB. Any proposed replacement needs to be temperature compensated with a gain variation of +-0.5 dB over the temperature range. The unit shall be shielded such that the leakage radiation within one inch of any surface shall be at least 70 dB down from the maximum input signal. Dimensions for the unit should be no more than 5in x 2in with a 1 in thickness. Power requirements for the unit should be 15VDC +- 10% with a maximum current draw of 250 mA. Power connector shall be SMA. General: Responses to the market survey must include the device manufacturer, a product description with performance parameters, and a statement regarding the current availability (NDI, prototype, in production, fully developed but not in production, etc.) and estimated cost of the product.
