- Description
- The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1, with SHAFER, TROXELL & HOWE, INC., Frederick, MD for a Myer WGX50-43 pump. The National Plant Germplasm Quarantine Center (NPGQC) in Beltsville, Maryland, is a world reference critical mission facility for plant pathogens diagnostic testing and deals with many complex diseases and pathogens that threaten agricultural and native plants. The NPGQC contains both BSL-2 and BSL-3 AG facilities that operate 24/7. Two Meyers WGX50-43 centrifugal pumps remove all of the waste water and sewage from the facility utilizing a lift station that is equipped with two Myer WGX50-30 sewage ejector pumps that are controlled to operate alternately or simultaneously during peak water usage. These units will be procured as a commercial item in accordance with the procedures in FAR Part 12 (Acquisition of Commercial Items) and FAR Part 13 (Simplified Acquisition Procedures). The sole source determination is based on SHAFER, TROXELL & HOWE, INC. being the sole Maryland territory distributer for the required WGX50-30 sewage ejector pumps. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
