RE: VA786-16-R-0078 Questions and Answers Question 1: Is removal or blowing of trim grass also expected? Answer: Removal of the grass edging / clippings is a requirement. Question 2: Who is the incumbent? What was the previous award amount? Answer: The incumbent is AvKARE, Inc. Total estimate contract value for base + 4 options was $615,000.00 Question 3: What is the approx. acreage of the national Cemetery that includes the flag stones to be maintained. Answer: 135 acres Question 4: What are the working hours and days permitted? Answer: 8:00-4:30 Monday through Friday. Contractor may work on Saturday after receiving approval from the COR. Question 5: Do you provide transportation to utilize around the grounds during site visits? If not, are we permitted to bring our own? What types of vehicles are not permitted to transport around the site? Answer: Transportation is not provided during a visit. Contractor may take a vehicle along paved roadways as they are located throughout the cemetery. No vehicles are permitted in individual burial sections. Question 6: Are all of the flagstones in a row, grouped together, or are all 45000 scattered? Answer: Flat markers are in various burial sections in rows. Question 7: What is the coverage area of these 45,000 flag stones? Answer: See answer for question 6. Question 8: After trimming the flagstones, is there a mandatory procedure required to finish the job (wiped off, brushed, blown, etc)? If so, please describe. Answer: Yes, it is listed in the Statement Of Work (SOW). Please take the time to read it. Question 9: When is the approx. date of award announcement? Answer: The Government cannot give a date. It can be between a 2 weeks to four month or even longer. Question 10: Is a site map available displaying locations of flag stones Answer: See cemetery map below. Question 11: This bid is due next Monday, but since the snow storm that dropped 14 inches of snow at this cemetery, it's hard to get out there a look at the facility. Is it possible to move the due date back a few days so our contractor gets out there? Answer: No, the due date will stay the same. Contractors have had enough time to do a visit before the storm. However, a cemetery map and few pictures are included in this amendment to help get an idea of the site. Although site visit was recommended. See below.
