- Contracting Activity:USDA-ARS St Paul, Minnesota intends to Award as a Sole Source to Life Technologies. Nature/Description of Action: Request for purchasing laboratory consumables for conducting genotyping experiments using custom oligonucleotide primer and probe sets developed by Life Technologies. Description of Supplies/Service: The chemical reagents included in the high density bead chip kit custom designed for conducting genotyping assays, known as Custom TaqMan® SNP Genotyping Assays, manufactured by Life Technologies. Statutory Authority: In accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c) and FAR 6.302-1. Demonstration of Contractor's Unique Qualifications:.. Life Technologies Custom TaqMan® SNP Genotyping Assays have been used since the inception of our current genotyping project. In order to ensure comparison between future and past experiments, the current oligonucleotide manufacturer must be maintained. Items are described as follows: a. Manufacturer's Part Number: 4332077 small scale assays 124 each. b. Manufacturer's Part Number: 4332075 medium scale assays 12 each. Determination of Fair and Reasonable Costs: The Life Technologies assays provided are provided at a 20% discount. Market Survey: The item stated above is manufactured and custom made at Life Technologies. Life Technologies has developed specially designed probes and thus, is the sole manufacturer of these chemical reagents for the assay, and no substitute vendor is available.
