- ACTION CODE: <NOI> CLASSIFICATION CODE AND TITLE: SUBJECT: Digital Inspection Microscope REFERENCE NUMBER: NB643020-15-04465 RESPONSE DATE: 17 Sep 2015 CONTACT POINTS (WITH PHONE NUMBERS): Janice Moten, 301/975-6307 (Janice.moten@nist.gov) Randy Schroyer, 301/975-6314 (randy.schroyer@nist.gov) DESCRIPTION: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Acquisition Management Division, on behalf of the NIST Materials Measurement Science Division (MMSD), intends to negotiate with Carl Zeiss, One Zeiss Drive, Thornwood, NY 10594, on a sole source basis under the authority of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)13.106(b)(1 ) Soliciting from a Single Source for the purpose of acquiring a Zeiss SmartZoom5 Microscope system. P/N: 4109002073490000 Smartzoom5 Main System, 435230901000000 objective PlanAPo D 1.6x/0.1, to include installation and training. There are several types of automated digital microscope system on the market. However, only Zeiss SmartZoom 5 an provide the following key requirements: stage travel, sample load, secondary navigation camera, eucentric height tracking, automatic safety stop capability, and workflow macro recording. Additionally, Zeiss is the only source for the SmartZoom 5 microscope system A Firm Fixed Price purchase order to acquire a Microscope and accessories will be negotiated and issued on or about September 21, 2015. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice is not a request for competitive quotations; however, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. Inquiries will only be accepted via e-mail to janice.moten@nist.gov. The government will consider responses received by 12:00PM, EST, 17 Sep 2015. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill the requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement in the future. This Notice of Intent is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ) nor is it a request for competition. No telephone requests will be honored.
