Description
Bureau of Land Management, Department of the Interior, San Luis Valley Field Office, Monte Vista, Colorado has a requirement for Blanca Peak (EC97) Fuels Reduction Project. The project will be accomplished by the contractor using the hydro-axe to grind/mulch the excess vegetation within the designated areas. The contractor will provide a rubber tired articulating tractor with a machine mounted vertical shaft mower/mulcher attachment and operator (hereafter referred to as a hydro-axe). The project will be accomplished by the contractor using the hydro-axe to grind/mulch the excess vegetation within the designated areas. The pattern and shape of treatment areas is shown on the attached map. Edges of the treatment will be identified either by plastic surveyors flagging or man made structures such as fences. 10 - 15 % of the total area to be treated shall be left in untreated areas in leave islands less than 5 acres. These leave islands are calculated as part of the 10-15% untreated and shall be defined as areas that consists of boulders or large rocks such as those found in drainages and ravines. Therefore rocky and steep drainages and ravines shall be left untreated to encompass no greater than 10-15% of total untreated area and again this also qualifies as leave islands as long as they are no greater than 5 acres. Item 0001AC - Level III - Removal of 40-50% of the basal area of trees on site leaving small groups of trees that will add up to the 22 to 50 trees per acre remaining. Unit density is estimated to average less than 45 percent cover. (75% of project area) Item 0001AD - Level IV - Removal of 70-80% of the basal area of trees on site leaving small groups of trees that will add up to the 22 to 50 trees per acre remaining. Unit density is estimated to be greater than 45 percent cover. (25% of project area) The solicitation shall be set aside for Small Business Set Aside.
