Description
Description 1.0 Description 1.1 NASA in support of the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Program is seeking to gather information that could help strengthen the STTR technology profile. 1.2 THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes it does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or a promise to include the information in a solicitation in the future. This request for information does not commit the Government to contract for any supply or service whatsoever. Further, NASA is not at this time seeking proposals and will not accept unsolicited proposals. Respondents are advised that the U.S. Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI; all costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested partys expense. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future solicitations, if any is issued. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) website and the NASA SBIR/STTR website at https: http://sbir.nasa.gov/. It is the responsibility of the potential respondents/offerors to monitor these sites for additional information pertaining to this request. 2.0 Background NASA's Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Program is seeking to gather information that could help strengthen the STTR technology profile. Through this market research, we would like feedback on 1) the relevance of the technologies sought 2) their commercial potential and 3) perceived gaps in the technologies being pursued. Through the 2015 and 2014 Solicitations, STTR offered the following research areas: 2015 ( http://sbir.nasa.gov/so licit/54564/detail?data=ch9&s=54496 ): T1.01 - Affordable Nano/Micro Launch Propulsion Stages T3.01 - Energy Harvesting Technology Development T4.01 - Dynamic Servoelastic (DSE) Network Control, Modeling and Optimization T4.02 - Regolith Resource Robotic T5.01 - Autonomous Communications Systems T6.01 - Gas Sensing Technology Advancements for Spacesuits T6.02 - Space Weather T8.01 - Technologies for Planetary Compositional Analysis and Mapping T8.02 - Visible to Far-Infared Absolute Radiance Developments T9.01 - Navigation and Hazard Avoidance Sensor Technologies T11.01 - Information Technologies for Intelligent and Adaptive Space Robotics T11.02 - Computational Simulation and Engineering T12.01 - Advanced Structural Health Monitoring T12.02 - High Temperature Materials and Sensors for Propulsion Systems T12.03 - Advanced Bladder Materials for Inflatable Habitats T12.04 - Experimental and Analytical Technologies for Additive Manufacturing T13.01 - Advanced Propulsion System Ground Test and Launch Technology 2014 ( http://sbir.nasa.gov/so licit/52896/detail?data=ch9&s=52891 ): T1.01 - Affordable Nano-Launcher Upper Stage Propulsion T1.02 - Small Launch Vehicle Propulsion Technology T3.01 - Innovative Energy Harvesting Technology Development T4.01 - Dynamic Servoelastic (DSE) Network Control, Modeling, and Optimization T4.02 - Regolith Resources Robotics - R3 T5.01 - Autonomous Communications Systems T6.01 - Synthetic/Engineering Biology for NASA Applications T6.02 - Metal Organic Framework Sorbents for Spacecraft Medical Applications T8.01 - Technologies for Planetary Compositional Analysis and Mapping T8.02 - Next Generation Total Lightning Detection Sensor T10.01 - Lightweight Structural Nanomaterial Concepts T10.02 - Smart Structural Composites for Space T11.01 - Information Technologies for Intelligent and Adaptive Space Robotics T11.02 - Computational Simulation and Engineering T12.01 - High Fidelity Predictions for Spacecraft and Launch Vehicle Vibroacoustic Environments and Coupling T12.02 - High Temperature Materials and Sensors for Propulsion Systems T12.03 - Additive Manufacturing of metal Plus Insulator Structures with sub-mm Features T12.04 - Experimental and Analytical Technologies for Additive Manufacturing 3.0 Requested Information The following questions list the information requested from respondents. -Have you participated in any of the above referenced Subtopics? If yes, please indicate which ones. If no, why not? -Please provide any relevant feedback you may have on the content of the Subtopics listed above (limit 350 characters) -What changes (if any) would you make to the structure of the Subtopics listed above? -What suggestions might you have to improve their organization (limit 350 characters)? -If you feel there are gaps in the technologies being sought, please indicate those technology areas of interest. (Note: they should be technology areas that a small business can realistically compete in.) -What emerging technology areas would you like to see NASA move into? -General suggestions - How else might NASA change, improve, or adjust its STTR technology portfolio? 4.0 Responses 4.1 Interested parties are requested to respond to this RFI through: http://survey.c onstantcontact.com/survey/a07eb7zvytvibjwhboy/start Responses are due no later than Aug 13 2015 11:59 PM PST. 5.0 Industry Discussions NASA representatives will not hold discussions with respondents nor potential offerors. 6.0 Questions We are not accepting questions regarding this Request For Information. We are only soliciting responses to our specific survey questions. 7.0 Summary THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY.
