- NASA Ames has a requirement for a LN-251 Inertial Navigation System (INS). This procurement which is currently an integrated component of the Meterorological Measurement System (MMS) was developed at NASA Ames Research Center, is a Principal Investigator led airborne instrument that provides calibrated, science quality, in situ state measurements of static pressure, static temperature, and three-dimensional wind and turbulence indexes. The LN-251 INS is a navigation grade INS. An INS is a self-contained integrated sensor package that combines multiple accelerometers and gyros to produce a 3D measurement of specific force and angular rate, position, velocity and orientation with respect to the Earth-Centered Inertial frame of reference. NASA Ames intends to purchase the requirement from Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation, 21240 Burbank Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA91367 on a sole source basis.The main objective is a replacement of the obsolete predecessor LN-100G INS. The Government intends to acquire a commercial items purchase order (under FAR Part 12). NAICS is 333913 Measuring and Dispensing Pump Manufacturing, 500 employees. Period of Performance shall be 12 months from contract award. This Notice of Intent is being provided for information purposes only therefore, no solicitation will result from this announcement. Interested organizations may submit written capabilities and qualifications to perform the aforementioned effort to patricia.l.williams@nasa.gov no later than 4:30 p.m. Local Time on August 11, 2015. Telephone inquiries or responses will not be accepted. Information received from this announcement will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
