Description
The approximate RFP issue date will be July 30, 2015; proposals will be due Monday, August 31st, 2015. The RFP will be posted to the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO)website. Electronic procedures will be used for this solicitation at www.fedbizopps.gov <http://www.fedbizopps.gov/> only. NO TELEPHONE REQUESTS WILL BE HONORED and no hard copies will be mailed out. The requirement is for 1 EA PRE-PRODUCTION UNIT (Contractor Testing w/ Data Required) and PRODUCTION QTY OF 8 EA IN THE BASIC YEAR. Also included are three options for additional quantities of 1-2 EA (Option I), 1-2 EA (Option II), 1-2 EA (Option III) which may be excercised anytime within 365, 730, 1,095 days after award or approval of pre-production unit, as applicable. This effort is to procure NSN: 1730-01-250-9737, P/N 17G230005-1, CRADLE, AIRCRAFT ENGINE-F117-PW-100. The cradle consists principally of a horizontally oriented main frame from which four posts rise vertically. At the ends of these posts are the Ground Handling (GH) adapters which interface with the engine ground handling points. Each of the cradle GH adapters is attached to a short section of post which separates from the engine cradle near the top of the main post. This design allows the GH adapters to be attached to the engine and then that assembly is mated to the engine cradle. Some freedom of movement is built into each interface between the GH adapter and its short post section, and each short post section is provided with a self-aligning male post socket plug. This combination allows initial mating of the engine cradle and the engine-mounted GH adapters to take place without the two being aligned to the high degree of accuracy required if the GH adapters could not be removed. As the engine and engine cradle move closer together, the correct alignment is realized and the short post sections are attached to the main posts with T-bar handle locking pins.
