- The Regional Health Contracting Office - Pacific at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, intends to make a sole source award to Philips Electronics Korea Co., Ltd. for the purchase of magnetic resonance imaging surface coils for small extremities and knees for the 121st Combat Support Hospital in Yongsan, Korea compatible with their existing Philips equipment. The statutory authority permitting this award without providing full and open competition is FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), which authorizes the government to award contracts when the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available and no other suppliers or services will satisfy agency requirements.
