- Evaluation SOW Wood shake roofs on the Jimmy Carter Boyhood Home and Carter Commissary were last re-roofed in 1996, as part of a comprehensive site rehabilitation campaign at the Boyhood Farm prior to opening the site to public visitation. At that time the existing standing seam metal roofs were replaced with pine shake roofs. Earlier roofing covered by the metal roofs were also removed. New Southem Yellow pine shake roofing (Tamark Mfg LLC 'LifePine Ultra shake') was installed. The 1996 roofing material is now due for replacement.
