- The Pacific Regional Contracting Office at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii intends to award a sole source contract to Orthopediatrics Corp. for Adolescent Idiopathic Spinal System for treatment of patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. These items are needed based on the patients specific condition and provide the best outcome for the patient. Orthopediatrics Corp. is the sole manufacturer and distributor of this system. The statutory authority permitting this award without providing for full and open competition is 41 U.S.C. 1901, as cited in FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) which authorizes the government to award contracts when there is only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
