- STATEMENT OF NEED: A heavy-duty material is needed to cover the face of the new Compensation & Pension Reception station. The face of the counter is currently drywall construction. It's anticipated that the level of traffic checking in and passing by the Reception station will damage the face of the station if a heavy-duty material is not applied. In addition to covering the face of the Reception station, there is also a privacy concern. The counter top is all one level with no coverage to provide patient privacy for any exposed paperwork that the clerk is reviewing. The heavy-duty material will be brought up 12" above the counter top to assist in providing privacy for patient information. The specified material will also provide an aesthetic improvement on the face of the Reception station with an organic material that is imbedded within a clear resin. The resin will also have a shade of blue behind the organic material to provide a peaceful color in the new department with a white color on the clerk side of the counter. All exposed edges will be highly polished with rounded corners where necessary for patient safety. The resin material will be installed using the manufactures standard stainless steel point support hardware. The resin will be predrilled at the point support locations for VA personnel to easily install on the counter fascia. A drawing of the counter floor plan and elevations will be provided for further clarification. END
