- DARPA-SN-15-21 The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Defense Sciences Office (DSO) is requesting information concerning research and development related to methodologies and technologies of exploiting multiple dimensions of the Plenoptic function in order to extract additional information that is not available through traditional imaging methods. Of particular interest is the inclusion of indirect photons from objects of interest that can be either inside or outside the field of view of an optical system. Additionally, it is not required that an optical system forms a direct image, but instead can reconstruct an image based on the collected information. DARPA/DSO is interested in (a) fundamental science relevant to the potential for imaging using what are currently underutilized degrees of freedom of the Plenoptic function in extracting useful information from these measurements and (b) sources and detectors for enhancing the ability to collect direct and indirect photons and produce images using measurements of the Plenoptic function while minimizing size, weight and power (SWaP), and maximizing fieldability.
