- BEP-RFI-15-0253 This is not a request for bids, quotes, or proposal. This is a RFI announcement only. The purpose of this notice is to conduct market research and obtain information from qualified businesses. Interested parties of any size may submit a response to this notice. Description: The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), Eastern Currency Facility located in Washington, DC requests information on banding units. Background: The BEP testing facility produces test samples in the form of bundled notes or coupons for groups within or outside the Bureau. Currently, most test work is manually banded by BEP personnel unless production or quality inspection equipment is available. BEP is looking to acquire banding units to reduce the manual effort involved in producing test samples that go to internal and external stakeholders. Requested Information: The BEP is seeking information on the types of banding units that are available in market. The banding unit must meet the minimum requirements: • Mobile banding unit • 500mm x 360mm frame size • Ultra sonic sealing • Print mark control for band length • Up to 50mm band width • Able to accept roll of bands minimum circumference of 10" • Band tension settings Additional features of interest • Thermal printer • Batch counter INTERESTED PARTIES SHALL PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IN THEIR RESPONSE: 1. Company name, address, phone number, primary contact(s), e-mail address, ALL applicable NAICS code(s), business size (i.e., small/large), company's socioeconomics (i.e., woman-owned, HUBZone, Service Disabled Veteran, etc.) and DUNS Number. 2. A detailed capability statement to include all equipment specifications, features, warranties, available options, and estimated cost. 3. A statement that addresses whether or not the equipment is in compliance with the Buy American Act. Responses shall be e-mailed to gladys.wilks@bep.gov. Telephone responses will NOT be accepted. Responses must be received no later than 10 December 2014 - 12:00 p.m. (EST). NO CAPABILITY STATEMENTS MAY BE SUBMITTED AFTER 10 DECEMBER 2014. AT THIS TIME NO SOLICITATION EXISTS. (DO NOT REQUEST A COPY OF A SOLICITATION). A FUTURE NOTICE SHALL BE POSTED IF A SOLICITATION IS RELEASED.
