Description
Oct 16, 2014 Site Visit Sign-In Sheet This is not a Request for Proposals (RFP). Project Plans and Specifications are not yet available. This Design-Build project will be tentatively advertised on October 1, 2014 on an unrestricted (full and open) basis. Official RFP documents will be available at that time. A government-led site visit will be announced with the RFP. The announcement will include the site visit date, time and location. The site visit will be non-mandatory but prospective proposers are strongly encouraged to attend. The Catwalk Trail Reconstruction project is located in Catron County, New Mexico, within the Gila National Forest. This project will provide spot repairs along two hiking trails, as well as replace pedestrian bridge structures damaged in a 2013 flood event. Design-build has been selected as the procurement method for this project due to the extreme access and weather conditions at the project site, accelerated construction timeline necessitated by the monsoon season and flash flood threat, and design and fitting requirements of major pedestrian structures. The major work elements include debris removal, trail restoration, construction of a suspended Catwalk Trail bridge section, and various pedestrian bridges. The majority of work will take place in a confined slot canyon with limited access to equipment and personnel. Construction within the canyon must be substantially complete before the monsoon season (June 30), only providing a construction weather window of approximately 3 months. The Catwalk Trail bridge section consists of a pedestrian bridge suspended or supported along the irregular cliff face of the slot canyon, requiring detailed measurements and shop drawings for a proper fit. The proposed project is for spot repairs and reconstruction at damaged sites, at an estimated cost between $3M and $5M. The primary scopes of work include debris removal, trail restoration, construction of Catwalk Trail bridge structure and overlooks, and construction of various pedestrian bridges. Significant quantities include: Trail Restoraiton 3000 LNFT Catwalk Bridge Trail Structure 600 LNFT Pedestrian Bridges 3 EACH
