- Description
- NASA/AFRC has a requirement for a Capstone 65 Micro-Turbine Generator to conduct system integration research on small class turbo-electric distribution propulsion. The micro-turbine is a 65kW stationary power generating system fueled with Jet-A. the dynamic resonse of a direct shaft-coupled turbo-generator to an array of electric motor propulsors is a focus of the research. The Capstone 65 is the only commercial off the shelf product that fulfills NASA project requirements with the following features: 1) 65 kW direct-drive, single shaft turbine and electrical generation supported by air bearings, and 2) AC/DC resonant DC link power conversion with automatic battery load shedding and data communications port. NASA/AFRC intends to purchase the items from Regatta Solutions as they are the only authorized distributors of this type of generator. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:00 p.m. local time on 09/30/2014.Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
