Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Middle East District (MED) invites contractors to an Industry Day to learn more about our mission and potential partnership opportunities. SYNOPSIS: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Middle East District invites contractors to attend an Industry Day on October 16, 2014. The venue has changed from Millwood Station at 252 Costello Drive to Shenandoah University, Harry F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business located at 1460 University Drive, Winchester, Va. 22601. Parking is limited at the building. Most parking will be one block away at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1317 S. Pleasant Valley Rd. Please see the attached map for guidance and the Industry Day Agenda for meeting hours. Check-in for the event will begin at 8:00 AM. We have 50 seats remaining. Registration will close when the total has been reached. Shenandoah University is providing WiFi services for your laptops if you chose to bring one. Access information will be included in your registration packet. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. A social get together will occur after the Commanders closing remarks. We will also invite students from the School of Business to attend. Please bring many business cards. PURPOSE: Explain MED's mission, introduce its customers, and discuss potential future acquisitions. Some of the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) categories our requirements fall under are Sector 22, Utilities), (Sector 23, Construction), (Sector 42, Wholesale Trade), (Sector 54, Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services) with multiple NAICS codes in these areas. MED's Area of Responsibility (AOR) is Afghanistan, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Yemen. Discuss the four point relationship between USACE, the customer, the Architect-Engineer (A/E) and the construction contractor outlining challenges and some lessons learned for successful project delivery. Offer the industry an opportunity to share their lessons learned, success stories and contracting best practices for potential future partnership opportunities. REGISTRATION: Registration is now open on Fikket's online registration site at http://industryday2014.fikket.com/event/the-truth-about-partnering. Fees for this event are $45 per person and this event is open to small and large businesses with an interest in working in our AOR. No checks, cash or same day payments will be accepted. No refunds will be made. DISCLAIMER: This event is open to all contractors and is not restricted to those currently under contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This is not a marketing or outreach activity but an opportunity to introduce the Special Programs Branch to the Industry and improve the Industry's understanding of the Program and its potential future requirements. There will be no opportunity for vendor booth set-up. This announcement is not a contract, request for proposal, promise to contract, or commitment of any kind on the part of the Government. The Army will not assume responsibility for costs incurred by attendees or for travel expenses for marketing efforts. Note: This meeting will occur the same week as the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Blue Ridge Post Scholarship Fund Golf Outing (to be held on October 17, 2014). Any costs associated with this outing are not included in the registration fee for Industry Day and is the responsibility of each participant. Point of Contact for this Industry Day is Mr. Mike Weaver (Deputy for Small Business Programs) at William.m.weaver@usace.army.mil.
