- Description
- NASA/GRC has a requirement for 2 linear stages, 1 rotary stage, accessory equipment, controllers, cables,installation and warranties. NASA/GRC intends to purchase the items from Aerotech Inc. The stages have a requirement of: having an extremely high resolution (1 micron), being lightweight, and being compatible with low vacuum operation. To the authors knowledge, the specified stages uniquely fit these requirements. We have used similar stages in other testing facilities, and have developed detailed software packages for controlling the motion. Additionally, we have extensive experience designing and building the guard-rail system for these particular designs. As such, integrating the stages with existing infrastructure is a cost-effective solution; purchasing stages elsewhere will require substantial time and effort to re-develop motion algorithms and mounting schemes The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are notbacceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
